Decadent days in Dubai

Early Monday morning, 20th February
the Springs was a maize. every unit appeared identical.
the estate looked like the set of The Truman Show.
i got the directions ingrained only when my trip was about to end.
Springs 12, street 6, 29. 1st left, 1st left, 1st right, 2nd right.
i know, i know.. what's the point now...

named after a 14th century Arabic explorer, IBN Battuta. the mall is themed on his travels around the world. this was my first stop. China.

the world's 3rd largest indoor ski resort in the Mall of the Emirates.

the underground. cool pub. nice and quiet that monday evening. i pretended to ponder on the choice for my primary poison.. digger's remembered my usual. whiskey soda. of course. CHEERS mate!

Al Khayma at Dubai Marine Resort. fantastic food. smoked up a mango sheesha there too.

Tuesday, 21st February

retna. bushido described her to be an angel sent down from heaven. i prefer the phrase: a dangerously horny hell raiser. either way, cute as a button. one of the warmest people you can ever meet. how YOO DOin.. miss ya babe..

dune bashing in the dubai desert safari. a roller coaster ride, arabian style. wheeeeeeeeeeeeee....eeee!! after screaming and laughing our heads off, we calmed down with a breathtaking view of the sunset. wow...

followed by an arabian night... delicious bbq buffet, and entertained by a traditional Belly dancer.
got yanked up on stage to bust a move too. great fun.

Wednesday, 22nd February

Jumeirah Beach.

soaked up the sun, swilvelled in the sand and sank in the sea.. (well, actually, only tippy toed in the water.. frrrrrrrrrrrrr!)

Souk Madinah, Jumeirah.. i would say it's a classy clarke quay. excellent variety of restaurants, shopping, live music.. perrrrfect place to people watch, if you know what i mean..

but whatever.. THE highlight of the night: see below

no, this is NOT a "Stardust" scan. I, MISS, HAKUNA, MATATA, SPOKE TO, ANIL, FUCKING, KAPOOR!
everything's a blur right now..

i'm not going to gush over him too much in this entry.. think i'll spare myself the embarassment. anyway, chances are, i already told everyone who gives a shit or could remotely relate to my excitement then.
forget about my jello knees and shaking hands.. i was so nervous, even MY HAIR was trembling. not the best state to be in when you have to pick your heart up from the floor.

*for those who think he looks like a road sweeper, construction worker or money changer in Mustafa, go screw yourself... he's HUGE!!!! huge bollywood star i mean..

humana, humana, humana...

Thursday, 23rd February

on our way to abu dhabi. diggers got us tickets to Romeo and Juliet the ballet, at Emirates Palace!

sorry bushido, blatant plagarism.. it poured almost the whole time we were there so my photos of the palace didn't do the hotel justice. thus, i pinched these pictures off "the cheaky blog". heehee...

The Russian Festival Ballet warm up for the matinee show.

post party with the event organizers, production crew, and russian dancers. started in howard johnson's suite 801. the REAL party began however, in 501.

yada, yada, yada... the morning after: i woke up to find some socks which didn't belong to any of us in the corner of the living area, carpets soaked in beer, and couches covered in ash. i'll leave the events leading to these after effects to your imagination.

Friday, 24th February

drive back to dubai.

bushido and ameet organized a barbecue at their place. looks like they made some really good friends there. awesome crowd. as the evening progressed, i had to gulp down some vodka shots just to be able to stay in the backyard. not that i'm complaining..

Saturday, 26th February

last minute shopping in the factory outlets and Deira mall... last minute eye-candy shopping that is...

Global Village in Dubailand- i'm an adrenaline junkie. but i was distracted by the other attractions of the themepark. it showcased music, dances, handicrafts, apparels, and cuisine from different countries.

India was the most elaborate one.. one of the best shopping sections and food stalls. i was beginning to feel homesick. haha...

Sunday, 27th February

my favorite spot in their home. every morning, you'll find me on one of those chairs, sipping my coffee and catching up on tabloid news (a complimentary paper sent to the house every morning). then i'll be relating to the guys on the highlights of the day before and the planned events for that day itself. on some evenings, i would return to the same spot (with a glass of whiskey in hand a couple of times), and stare up into the open sky. clear blue, cloudy and star studded.. i saw them all... what a view...

thank you bushido and ameet for making Springs 12 feel like a second home to me. i really appreciate it. it IS an amazing place you boys built for yourselves in a few months. and thank you retna, for the warm breakfasts, for showing us the sights, and for the S-Word sharing sessions. to be continued babe!

do you sense the L-word taking it's course? oh what the fuck, I LOVE YOU GUYS!

wwwhat? L for LOVE, what were you expecting? hehe...
